Man taken into custody nearly 24 hours after climbing Dallas crane

At approximately 8:30am on Monday morning, Dallas police responded to a man who had climbed to the top of a tower crane in the 900 block of Singleton Blvd.
Negotiations with the man took place throughout the day and night. Despite rain and thunderstorms in the area, the man remained at the top of the crane.
According to personnel with direct contact, he became more cooperative with DPD personnel as the circumstances began to take their toll on him.
Dallas police say they arrested the man around 7:45am this morning after a nearly 24 hour standoff. Dallas Fire Rescue’s Urban Search and Rescue team assisted with bringing the man down to the ground. Rescue personnel placed him into a harness and lowered him with a member of the USAR team. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
Singleton Blvd was closed in both directions while Dallas police worked the scene.
