Driver killed in crash that knocked out power to portion of Las Colinas
The Irving Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred in the Las Colinas area.
At around 3:30pm, Irving Fire/EMS and Police responded to Spur 348/Northwest Highway near Las Colinas Blvd for a single vehicle crash.
Police say a vehicle was traveling westbound when the driver hit a guardrail and collided with a power pole off the roadway. Impact from the collision snapped the power pole and sparked a fire involving the power lines. The driver was unable to escape from the wrecked vehicle.
Power was knocked out to a portion of Las Colinas for hours until it was restored.
The crash remains under investigation.
