Resident killed in Euless townhouse fire

At approximately 3:14 PM on November 8, 2023 the Euless Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 100 block of Abbey Rd. in Euless, Texas. Dispatch reported to responding crews that bystanders said they could see fire showing from windows.

Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the residence and immediately called for a second alarm, and began search & rescue operations simultaneously with firefighting operations.

Early arriving crews began a search of the residence and found one person on the ground floor and immediately removed them from the building.

Once outside, that person was determined to be deceased.

Fire crews quickly brought the fire under control while the rest of the residence and adjacent residences were searched. A bystander who was reported to be trying to evacuate residents was treated for smoke inhalation and released. A dog was also found deceased during search and rescue operations.

The cause and origin of the fire is currently under investigation.

Euless Fire Department crews were assisted by the Euless Police Department, Bedford Fire Department, Grapevine Fire Department, and Hurst Fire Department crews. There were no Fire Department casualties reported.
