One person killed in wrong-way collision along 635 in Irving
At around 2:30pm, Irving Fire/EMS and Police responded to a major accident along westbound IH-635 near MacArthur Blvd.
Investigators say a driver was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the highway and struck a second vehicle head-on. A passenger inside the second vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle was transported to a Dallas trauma center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The wrong-way driver was transported to a Dallas hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators are working the scene and trying to figure out where the vehicle began driving the wrong way, and what possible contributing factors caused the driver to operate their vehicle the wrong way.
