Man and woman killed in Fort Worth wrong way collision
At around 12:45am this morning, Fort Worth Fire Department and Police Department along with MedStar EMS responded to a two-vehicle crash at the West Freeway (I30) and Chisholm Trail Parkway interchange.
Fort Worth police believe a driver was traveling the wrong direction when they struck an SUV. A man and a woman inside the SUV were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
UPDATE
During the course of the investigation, it was determined the man and the woman were traveling westbound on Interstate 30 when they took the Chisholm Trail Pkwy exit and were struck by the suspect vehicle, who was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of travel.
The 27-year-old male driver of the suspect vehicle was taken to a local hospital for medical observation. Fort Worth DWI-Unit took over the investigation and were able to secure a search warrant for his blood. He remains in the hospital where he is charged with two counts of Intoxication Manslaughter.
The case will be presented to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office.
