Man dies after being struck by vehicle in Flower Mound

On Tuesday evening, Flower Mound PD and Fire/EMS responded to a person struck by a vehicle at the intersection of River Walk Drive and Cross Timbers Road.

Upon arrival, officers and paramedics located a critically injured man. He was transported to a trauma center in Denton for further treatment of his injuries.

According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, he succumbed to his injuries overnight.

He has been identified as a 56-year-old man from Flower Mound.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Motorcyclist killed in crash north of Weatherford

On Thursday, December 7, at around 6:00pm, multiple emergency responders were dispatched to a major accident in the 3500 block of Zion Hill Road north of Weatherford.

Investigators say a 29-year-old Weatherford man was riding a motorcycle northbound on Zion Hill Road when he signaled and slowed to make a turn. The driver of a pickup truck traveling behind the motorcyclist failed to control her speed and struck the the motorcycle.

Zion Hill Road was closed while DPS Troopers investigated the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.

Amtrak train collides with vehicle in Justin; driver killed

At around 6:06pm this evening, Justin Police and Fire/EMS were dispatched to E. 5th Street near FM 156 for a major accident involving a train and a vehicle.

An Amtrak train with 54 passengers and crew members on board collided with a vehicle at the train crossing on E. 5th Street. The collision resulted in the death of the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

There were no injuries reported on board the train.

The crash is still under investigation, but Justin police say alcohol is not suspected to have contributed to the crash.

According to an eyewitness, the driver attempted to cross the tracks with the railroad crossing arms down, and that’s when the crash occurred. The police investigation will confirm if this was the case.

15-year-old killed in Garland shooting

On Wednesday, December 6, at approximately 6:00 pm Garland Police responded to a shooting in the 3900 block of Roanoke Drive. The caller stated that there was a male lying in the street and that it appeared the subject had been shot.

Garland emergency personnel, including the Garland Fire Department and Garland Police Department, arrived on the scene locating the male subject. The victim was quickly assessed, and transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The victim was found to be a 15-year-old male, whose identity is not being released.

Garland Police detectives are actively working the case trying to identify the person or persons involved. This is an ongoing investigation.

Man kills roommate at home in Providence Village

On December 5, 2023 at approximately 7:50 p.m. the Aubrey Police Department was dispatched to the 9800 block of Concord Drive in Providence Village, Texas in reference to a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a 22-year-old man had been shot multiple times. Paramedics transported him to a Denton hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect, 18 year old Austin Fontana, has been arrested and charged with Murder and is being booked into the Denton County Jail.

Investigators say the suspect and the victim knew each other and lived in the same residence.

The investigation is underway.

Man’s body discovered near Old Alton Bridge in Denton County

On Tuesday, December 5, at around 8:15am, Denton County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an investigation in the area of Copper Canyon Road and Old Alton Road.

Deputies discovered the body of a deceased man laying next to a vehicle parked in a remote gravel lot along the road.

The body was located near a dark-colored Mitsubishi SUV.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified him as a 42-year-old from Denton.

UPDATE: Man found shot dead in vehicle at north Arlington apartments

On Sunday, December 3, 2023, at approximately 7:23 p.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to an apartment complex in the 2900 block of Forest Hollow Lane to investigate a reported shooting.

When officers arrived on scene, residents directed them to a car in the parking lot where they found a 29-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives are working to determine what led to the shooting. At this time, a motive is unclear. No arrests have been made and there is currently no suspect information.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.

Man dies after jumping onto tow truck towing his vehicle

On December 3, 2023, at approximately 3:20 am, Dallas Police Officers responded to a major accident call in the 10000 block of Shoreview Road. The preliminary investigation determined when officers arrived they discovered a 67-year-old man lying in the parking lot.

Further investigation determined the man’s vehicle was being towed from the parking lot when he jumped onto the driver’s side of the vehicle. The investigation determined he somehow fell from the truck and was run over.

The was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

The tow truck driver, identified as 25-year-old Roberto Padilla, was located at the Dallas Auto Pound. He was charged with Manslaughter and taken to the Dallas County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.

Dallas firefighters rescue driver of box truck wedged between bridges

On Monday, December 4th, at 2:29 p.m. Dallas Fire-Rescue and Dallas County Sheriffs deputies responded to a 911 call for a major accident at the interchange of North Stemmons Freeway (I35E) and the Dallas North Tollway.

As a result of this accident, a box truck ended up hanging off the Stemmons Freeway overpass with the driver still stuck inside. Since the driver of the truck was inaccessible, first arriving companies requested the response of the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Team. After stabilizing the truck in its resting position, USAR technicians conducted a rescue using two ladder trucks.

One of the ladder trucks was placed on the road below lifting the USAR technicians up to the cab of the truck. Technicians fashioned a rope system at the tip of second ladder and positioned it above the cab of the truck. When team members from the lower ladder reached the driver, they packaged him into a harness, hooked him up to the rope system at the tip of the second ladder and lifted him to safety.

The driver was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

There was another vehicle involved in the accident as well, and one person was transported to the hospital from that vehicle with undisclosed injuries as well.

5 people shot at southeast Dallas home

On December 3, 2023, at approximately 4:20 pm, Dallas Police were called for a shooting in the 9700 block of Royce Drive.

When officers arrived, they found five people shot at the location. Three adults died at the scene, and two victims, a 15-year-old female and one-year-old boy were taken to a local hospital. The one-year-old died from his injuries. The teen was last listed in stable condition.

A suspect is not in custody. At this time, this is believed to be an isolated incident and there is not threat to the public.

The investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE

The three adults have been identified as a 50-year-old man, 33-year-old woman, and 20-year-old woman. A 15-year-old female and one-year-old boy were transported to a local hospital. The one-year-old died at the hospital from his injuries, the teen was treated and released. A 13-year-old female was also inside the home at the time of the shooting and was not injured.

Further investigation identified the suspect in the shooting, 21-year-old Byron Carillo. The suspect had an ankle monitor on his leg for a 2021 Aggravated Assault charge. The suspect cut off the ankle monitor at some point, before or immediately after, committing the murder.

Carillo left the scene and later stole a vehicle heading south on I-35. Highway Patrol located the suspect in the Austin area. Carillo got into a pursuit with officers before crashing the vehicle in a ditch, then ran from the vehicle and officers. When officers got close to Carillo, he shot himself in the head, and died at the scene.

The death in custody is being investigated by the Texas Rangers.
