Mansfield woman arrested after shooting husband, standoff

On May 30, 2025, at approximately 1:40 AM, Mansfield Police Officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Woodbridge Trail in response to a reported shooting incident.

The 911 caller, a male victim, reported that his wife, who was intoxicated, shot him inside their residence. The victim sustained two gunshot wounds and stated he had been shot at approximately ten times. Despite his injuries, he was able to flee the home to seek help.

Responding officers quickly rendered aid. An EMT certified Mansfield Police Officer provided emergency care until the victim could be safely transferred to Mansfield Fire Department Paramedics.

The victim was transported to a local hospital by the Mansfield Fire Department where he is expected to survive his injuries.

Following the incident, the female suspect remained inside the couple’s residence. A Mansfield Police Officer, certified in Crisis Negotiation established communication with the suspect and successfully convinced her to exit the home peacefully.

She was taken into custody without further incident.

The scene has been secured, and Detectives from the Mansfield Police Department Criminal Investigations Division are conducting the investigation. The suspect was transported to the Mansfield jail and charged with Aggravated Assault / Family Violence.

UPDATE: 18-year-old kayaker struck, killed by jet ski on Grapevine Lake

Texas Game Wardens are continuing the investigation into the death of an 18-year-old woman at Lake Grapevine, which occurred the evening of May 25. Preliminary details indicate a personal watercraft (Jet ski) with two female occupants struck and killed the victim.

The passenger remained on scene to be interviewed by first responders, while the operator fled with an adult male. The operator and the man then struck a vehicle while leaving the area.

Grapevine Police Department is investigating the related automotive hit and run incident while Texas Game Wardens lead the water fatality investigation. 

Investigators are actively looking for both the PWC operator and the driver of the vehicle. If anyone has information regarding either suspect, please contact cidmail@grapevinetexas.gov.

Three shot, one fatally, at southeast Fort Worth home

On Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 3:18 p.m., Fort Worth police officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 4200 block of Carmel Ave.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim with at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Two additional shooting victims self-transported to a local hospital for treatment to their injuries sustained during the same shooting. Their condition is unknown at this time.

Detectives found that the shooting victims were in a parked car at the location when the suspect walked up to the vehicle and had a brief conversation with them. The suspect produced a handgun and shot into the vehicle striking all three victims. The deceased victim exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but collapsed a short distance from the vehicle. The two surviving shooting victims then drove themselves to the hospital for medical treatment. 

The suspect left the scene on foot after the shooting.

This still an ongoing investigation by the Homicide Unit.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will determine the manner, cause of death, and the identity of the deceased.

Intoxicated driver causes fatal multi-vehicle crash in Wise County

On Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 9:30 p.m., Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers, Rhome Fire, and Wise County EMS responded to a multiple-vehicle crash on northbound US-287 near Ramhorn Hill Rd.

A preliminary investigation indicates an SUV was traveling northbound when the driver struck two sedans parked on the shoulder. The driver also hit a pedestrian who was standing near one of the sedans. The driver of the SUV drove across the median, onto the southbound lanes, and struck a fourth vehicle. The driver tried to flee on foot and was apprehended by witnesses until law enforcement arrived.

The driver of the SUV was identified as a 58-year-old male from Boyd, TX. He was transported to Medical City Decatur, where he was treated and released into the custody of Texas Highway Patrol (THP) Troopers. During the investigation, Troopers determined he was intoxicated. He was arrested and booked into the Wise County Jail for Intoxication Manslaughter – a Second Degree Felony, and for Failure to Stop and Render Aid Involving Death – a Second Degree Felony.

The pedestrian was identified as a 19-year-old female from Grand Prairie, TX. She was transported to Medical City Decatur, where she succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash.

No other serious injuries were reported.

This investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available.

One killed, three others injured in McKinney shooting

At around 2:21am this morning, McKinney Police and Fire responded to a shooting at 7560 SH-121. When officers arrived, they found multiple people suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the business.

Four people were shot during a fight in the parking lot. Three victims were transported to a local hospital. A fourth arrived at the hospital via private vehicle.

A 33-year-old Lewisville man did not survive his injuries.

A 28-year-old man from McKinney has been arrested and charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault.

McKinney investigators continue to look into the circumstances surrounding this incident.

One child killed, two others seriously hurt after being struck by a vehicle in Dallas

On May 22, 2025, at about 3:30 p.m., Dallas Police and Fire-Rescue responded to a major accident in the 200 Block of S Marsalis Avenue.

The preliminary investigation determined three children, including a 12-year-old boy and two 8-year-old girls, and an adult were struck by a vehicle at the location.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene.

Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the victims to a local hospital. One child died, and two remain in critical but stable condition. The adult victim is stable as well.

The crash is under investigation.

UPDATE: Parent stabs another parent during elementary graduation ceremony, Fort Worth police say

On Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 11:33 a.m., Fort Worth police officers were dispatched to 3009 Bilglade Rd. (South Hills Elementary) on a stabbing call.

Initial details indicate that during a 5th grade graduation ceremony, two parents who police believe have had verbal altercations in the past, began arguing behind the school.

One adult male suspect displayed a knife and stabbed the other individual in the upper part of his body. The suspect then left the scene on foot.

Witnesses were able to provide arriving officers with a description of the suspect. Officers arrested the adult male a few blocks from the school without incident.

The suspect is currently being charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, but those charges may change as the investigation continues.

The suspect has been identified as a 28-year-old man.

The victim was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

Fort Worth ISD is providing counseling for anyone that may have witnessed this incident.

Wrong way driver causes double fatal crash on Dallas North Tollway

On May 18, 2025, at 4:34 a.m., Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of Dallas North Tollway, just north of I-635.

A preliminary investigation indicated that an SUV was traveling the wrong way – northbound in the southbound lanes – of Dallas North Tollway when the driver struck a sedan head-on. 

The driver of the SUV was transported to Plano Presbyterian Hospital with serious injuries. Intoxication is suspected.

The driver of the sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger was transported to Dallas Presbyterian Hospital and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. A second passenger was transported to Dallas Presbyterian Hospital with critical injuries. 

The identities of all involved are pending identification and next of kin notification.

UPDATE: Three killed in fiery Plano crash

On May 18, 2025, at approximately 2:30 am, Plano police officers and Plano Fire-Rescue personnel were dispatched to a traffic crash with a vehicle on fire in the 1700 block of US Highway 75 northbound near Parker Road.

Based on a preliminary investigation, a single vehicle traveling north on US Highway 75 struck the concrete barrier and caught fire.

Once Plano Fire-Rescue were able to extinguish the fire, it was discovered there were three occupants in the vehicle, all deceased.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation and the identities of the occupants are unknown until positive identification can be made at the medical examiner’s office.

The Plano Police Department’s Traffic Unit is currently investigating this incident.  

Gang member fleeing from police causes fatal crash in Dallas

At around 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, a Grand Prairie police officer was patrolling in the 1100 block of E. Main Street when he observed a Chevrolet Camaro. Upon seeing the officer, the driver of the Camaro rapidly decelerated and began changing lanes and turning in an apparent attempt to lose sight of the officer.

The officer, believing the Camaro to be a freshly stolen vehicle, attempted a traffic stop for an observed traffic violation. The driver pulled into a parking lot, as if to comply with the officer’s emergency equipment, but immediately fled as the officer began to exit his patrol vehicle.

A pursuit ensued onto IH-30 eastbound. As the suspect began to exit the Hampton Road South exit, the suspect struck a stranded vehicle which was disabled inside a lane of traffic. The driver, and an unknown passenger, exited the Camaro and fled on foot. The officer gave chase on foot, catching the driver in the median of IH-30 where a prolonged struggle ensued. Backup officers ultimately arrived and assisted in placing the driver into custody. The driver was transported to a local hospital, at his request, after informing officers he ingested fentanyl. He was treated and released. The passenger was not located.

The officer, who suffered minor injuries, was treated and released at scene.

The driver of the disabled vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local trauma center by Dallas Fire Rescue. The driver later succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Officer will identify the deceased once the next of kin has been notified.

The suspect, identified as Llonis Arevalo, 26 years of age from Irving, has been charged with Murder, Evading Arrest Causing Death, Resisting Arrest and Collision Involving Death. Arevalo, a documented gang member, is currently out on bond with Dallas County on felony offenses that include Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (3 counts), Burglary of a Habitation – Intend other Felony (4 counts), Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts), Evading Arrest, and Driving while Intoxicated.
