Aunt arrested and charged with capital murder after 9-year-old child dies in Mansfield
Last Saturday, Mansfield Police and Fire/EMS personnel were dispatched to a home in the 4200 block of Eagle Drive around 12:38PM regarding a cardiac arrest. While officers and firefighters were responding, they were advised of CPR in progress on a 9-year-old female child.
When emergency responders arrived on the scene, they continued resuscitation efforts and transported the child to Methodist Mansfield hospital. She was pronounced deceased at 1:30PM Saturday afternoon.
Officers established a crime scene and initiated a death investigation at the home. The crime is still being investigated.
Upon completion of the child’s autopsy, the Medical Examiner ruled the child’s death a homicide. A cause of death has not been publicly listed.
The victim’s aunt, identified as 42-year-old Marcia Sneed, was arrested Saturday on charges of Injury to a Child, Causing Serious Bodily Injury. After compiling additional information today, the charges against Sneed will be upgraded to Capital Murder.
Sneed is in custody at the Tarrant County jail.
