Child critically hurt after being struck by vehicle in Garland
Today, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Garland Police and Fire responded to a major crash involving a vehicle and a child pedestrian in the southbound lanes of Broadway Boulevard near Tacoma Drive.
When officers arrived, they located a 5-year-old boy who was unconscious. He was transported to an area hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Based on the preliminary investigation, investigators believe the child ran into the roadway and was struck by an SUV traveling southbound on Broadway Boulevard.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Based on the information currently available, no charges are expected against the driver at this time.
