Dallas tornado damage updates: homes and businesses destroyed, power lines down, gas leaks
The Dallas Fire Department and Police Department continue to respond to multiple calls related to tornado damage. The damage is confined to north Dallas, primarily east of I35E, along and north of Northwest Highway, up to 635, and Dallas North Tollway on the east.
Neighborhoods including Northwest Dallas, Preston Hollow, near Dallas Love Field, and others have been impacted.
Dallas Fire-Rescue continues to search houses that have been impacted by the storm. Some have collapsed. Some have had their roofs blown off. At least several dozen (probably more) residential structures have sustained significant damage.
There have also been major damage to commercial buildings along Walnut Hill Lane and Marsh Lane. Additional damage / structural collapses have been reported at these locations:
5900 Orchid Lane (near St. Mark’s School)
10544 Harry Hines
Midway and Northcrest
4100 Walnut Glen Place
And many more. Firefighters and police officers are going door to door working to find and rescue trapped residents. The impact area is widespread.
There are also many power lines and tree limbs down, hindering response efforts.
There are also several reports of gas leaks in the impacted area.
