UPDATE: Fire at Globe Life Field in Arlington under control

This is an update to our earlier story posted here.

The Arlington Fire Department responded to a fire at the new Globe Life Field construction area this afternoon around 2:30PM. Responding units reported heavy black smoke visible while en route.

Heavy fire and smoke was seen coming from an upper floor of the ballpark. One of Arlington’s ladder trucks was set up to fight the fire from the ground.

Officials say the fire mostly involved roofing and materials. It is unclear if the building caught fire. Despite some melting on some side paneling, it did not appear to significantly damage the structure itself.

Construction workers were on scene and have been working at the site for the last several months to complete the stadium by March of 2020.

Arlington FD says they responded with 2 alarms, which equates to several firetrucks and a few dozen firefighters. No injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
