Juvenile shot in Haltom City shooting
The Haltom City Police Department responded to a house in the 5300 block of Ira Street North early this morning around 3:30AM with regards to a shooting.
When officers arrived on the scene, they located a 12-year-old female in the bathroom of the house with a gunshot wound to the back. Fire and MedStar personnel responded for patient care. She was transported by MedStar to Cook Children’s with serious injuries.
It was determined that the 20-year-old male suspect in this case had left the house after the shooting. Investigators say he fired a weapon into the bedroom closet when it went through the wall and struck the juvenile.
“Detectives have been in contact with the suspect and are attempting to get him to voluntarily come to the police department to speak with them.”
This is an ongoing investigation.
