IMPORTANT: If you are traveling on a roadway and your vehicle starts to break down, exit the highway immediately if possible. If you are coming to a gradual stop, safely pull over to the right shoulder of the highway and put on your flashers. Exit the vehicle on the passenger’s side of the vehicle away from traffic. DPS recommends you open the hood and leave it open. Call 9-1-1 immediately if you are stuck in a main lane of traffic.
