Man arrested after throwing 9-month-old child off balcony at Mesquite apartments

The Mesquite Police Department has arrested a 40-year-old man after a disturbance and assault call at the Mission Fairways Apartment (801 IH-30).

Police received multiple 9-1-1 calls of a disturbance involving a man who was assaulting multiple people around 9:35AM. During the incident, the suspect threw a 9-month-old child off a second-floor balcony apartment building.

The baby landed on a carport, preventing serious injury. The child was transported to the hospital as a precaution.

Officers arrested the man and charged him with Injury to a Child, Assault Bodily Injury, and Resisting Arrest.

Tornado WATCH issued for North Texas, including Dallas / Fort Worth

The US National Weather Service has issued a Tornado WATCH for a large portion of North Texas, including the immediate Dallas and Fort Worth areas, until 9PM.

Storms are expected to fire soon along the dry line, which is currently west of the DFW Metroplex. As storms initiate, they will strengthen and move east into our area.

The Tornado WATCH does not include Johnson and Ellis counties at this time, but it does include Dallas and Tarrant counties and areas north.

Main impacts include: heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, damaging hail, and possibly a tornado.

The best chance of storms in the DFW Metroplex is from now until about 8PM.

UPDATE: Driver transported to hospital after serious crash in Burleson; I35 reopened

The Burleson Police Department is investigating a serious crash along the northbound lanes of Interstate 35W at Renfro Street.

According to police, a pickup truck entered the northbound lanes of Interstate 35W from Renfro Street when the vehicle veered across all lanes of traffic, struck the center median, and collided with an 18-wheeler.

The driver of the pickup truck was ejected from the vehicle and into the bed of his truck.

MedStar EMS transported the driver to the hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not seriously injured.

Northbound lanes of I35W were closed, but have been reopened at this time.

UPDATE: One dead after vehicle crashes off bridge, catches fire in Fort Worth

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred last night (Tuesday) along the southbound lanes of E. Loop 820 in east Fort Worth.

According to police, two vehicles were involved in a high-speed collision around 7:45PM, causing one of the vehicles to plummet off the highway bridge and onto Martin Street. The vehicle then caught fire.

Fort Worth FD had originally requested CareFlite to the scene, but MedStar canceled and ground transported to JPS Hospital. He was pronounced deceased at 8:18PM.

The victim has been identified as a 24-year-old man from The Colony.

Person shot after argument with another driver at west Fort Worth intersection

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a shooting incident, reportedly involving road rage.

Fort Worth Police were called to 3300 block of W. Loop 820 service road at W. Camp Bowie Blvd just after 12:30PM this afternoon for reports of a shooting related to a road rage incident.

When police arrived, they located one person who had been shot twice. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It was reported that two motorists were involved in an argument at a stop light when the shooting occurred.

The department’s Air-1 helicopter was called out to assist in the search for the suspect, who fled from the scene. The suspect was located at an apartment complex and subsequently arrested.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Man struck, killed by vehicle while jaywalking in Arlington

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a major accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Monday evening.

At 10:38PM, Arlington firefighters, police, and paramedics were called to the scene of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 2100 block of E. Pioneer Parkway.

According to police, a man was jaywalking across Pioneer Parkway when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle. He failed to yield to the vehicle’s right of way and was crossing in a non-crosswalk location.

Arlington EMS transported the man to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

It is not know if charges will be filed against the driver.

The crash remains under investigation.

Driver airlifted after fiery crash in Hill County

Multiple emergency responders were called to the scene of a major accident yesterday evening along the Interstate 35 service road in the Abbott area.

According to DPS troopers, the driver of a Ford Raptor truck failed to control his speed and collided with the back end of an 18-wheeler. The pickup caught fire after the crash.

The driver of the Ford truck was airlifted to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Waco with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Lewisville police looking for suspect(s) who shot, killed man in armed robbery

The Lewisville Police Department is investigating an armed robbery and homicide that led to the death of a 54-year-old man.

According to police, a man called 9-1-1 to report he had been shot in an armed robbery at a business in the 900 block of Valley Ridge Blvd. The incident occurred just before 2:00AM this morning.

Police responded to the scene, but the two suspects had already fled on foot. They do not have a good description of the suspects to release at this time.

The shooting victim was transported to the hospital, but later died of his injuries. He has been identified as a 54-year-old man.

Stranded motorist struck, killed by passing vehicle on I35W in north Fort Worth

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a major accident involving a vehicle vs pedestrian in the 4900 block of North Freeway (I35W) Tollway.

Units were dispatched to the scene just before 6:30PM in the southbound lanes of the I35W express near Basswood.

Police say a pedestrian (stranded motorist) was struck and killed by a passing vehicle. She was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The driver is not being detained at this time.

Lanes of the southbound tollway have been closed to investigate the scene.
