Driver opens fire on vehicle that cut him off; passenger injured, police searching for suspect
The Garland Police Department is investigating a road rage related shooting that occurred last night near the intersection of Lavon Drive and Bunker Hill Road.
Police say a man and his wife were driving along Lavon Drive when they were forced to quickly change lanes due to a crash ahead in the roadway. As they changed lanes, their vehicle cut off a pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup truck became irate, tailgating their vehicle and brandishing a handgun out the window. As both vehicles traveled along Lavon Drive, the driver of the pickup pulled up alongside the couple’s vehicle and opened fire.
A male passenger in the vehicle was shot and taken to a local hospital for treatment. He is in stable condition. His wife, who was driving at the time, was uninjured.
The suspect driver fled the scene and was last seen around Lavon Drive and the PGBT. He is described as a heavyset Hispanic man with no facial hair. The vehicle is believed to be a silver Dodge RAM four-door pickup truck. Call Garland PD if you know the suspect, or anything about this shooting: 972-485-4840.
The investigation is ongoing.
