Body recovered from neighborhood park in Duncanville

The Duncanville Police Department is investigating a drowning incident at Lakeside Park, a neighborhood park near the intersection of Camp Wisdom Road and Cedar Ridge Drive.

According to witnesses, an adult man waded into the pond yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) and attempted to swim into the water. They reported the man struggled briefly, went under, and did not resurface. At least one of the witnesses jumped into the water, while another called 9-1-1.

Duncanville police officers arrived quickly and attempted to locate the man, but were unsuccessful. After an exhaustive search throughout the evening on Tuesday, emergency responders had to suspend operations due to nightfall. The search resumed this morning (Wednesday).

The Grand Prairie Fire Department’s Dive Team was requested to assist in the search efforts today. The dive team, along with members of the Duncanville FD and PD, made a successful recovery this morning around 9:00AM.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released. Officials believe he was an adult man in this 50’s or 60’s.
