Driver dies in head-on crash along Main Street in The Colony
The Colony Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred earlier this morning along Main Street (FM 423) near the E. Lake Highlands Drive intersection.
Investigators say a pickup truck was driving south on Main Street, crossing the bridge over Lake Lewisville, when the driver failed to navigate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle drove over the median and collided head-on with a passenger vehicle and large commercial dump truck.
The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased. The driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have not ruled out that the driver of the pickup truck may have suffered a medical emergency while driving, causing him to crash into the oncoming lanes of travel.
All northbound lanes of FM 423 / Main Street were closed for almost six hours while The Colony police investigated the scene. The crash happened just before 6:30AM this morning and lanes were reopened around noon.
