Motorcyclist seriously injured in Arlington crash

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a serious crash involving a motorcycle that occurred earlier this morning on South Cooper Street near the West Mayfield Road intersection.

At around 6:45AM, Arlington firefighters, paramedics, and police were called to the southbound lanes of Cooper Street near Mayfield Road for a major accident involving a motorcycle. All southbound lanes of Cooper Street were subsequently closed due to a large debris field.

Investigators say a pickup truck was northbound on Cooper Street, making a left turn onto Blue Danube Street when a motorcycle, who they believe was speeding, hit the back end of the pickup’s bed. This caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the motorcycle.

Arlington EMS transported him to a local hospital with serious injuries. The 23-year-old is currently undergoing extensive medical treatment for his injuries.

Southbound lanes of Cooper Street were closed while police investigated the scene.
