Fort Worth firefighters extricate driver heavily trapped in wrecked Blue Bell truck

At around lunchtime on Christmas Eve, Fort Worth firefighters, police officers, and MedStar paramedics were called to the scene of a serious crash on westbound Interstate 20 near Hulen Street. All lanes were blocked as a result of the crash.

A driver in a Blue Bell truck collided with an 18-wheeler. The accident severely trapped the male driver of the Blue Bell truck. Fort Worth firefighters spent nearly an hour extricating the man, who was freed and taken to a local hospital with critical injuries.

“He is alive, but only by a miracle,” his wife said in a comment on our Facebook group. “Paramedics thought he wasn’t going to make it.”

He suffered major injuries to his lower extremities, including many broken bones. Unfortunately medical personnel were unable to save his leg, and had to amputate.

“I’m so thankful he is still here with me and our kids.”

Well done Fort Worth FD and MedStar EMS!
