Driver killed in fiery crash near downtown Dallas

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious crash that left one person dead overnight along I35E in the downtown Dallas area.

At around 2:20am this morning, Dallas Fire Rescue and Dallas County sheriffs deputies were called to the scene of a crash along southbound I35E at Exit 428B (Reunion Blvd area). When personnel arrived, they located one vehicle had collided with the lane divider from the exit ramp to the highway.

When Dallas firefighters put out the fire, they found one occupant deceased inside the vehicle.

Traffic investigators believe the vehicle had collided with another, causing the driver to lose control and hit the attenuator. The attenuator penetrated the vehicle and caused significant damage.

The identity of the victim has not yet been disclosed. The crash remains under investigation.
