Vehicle goes airborne in Johnson County crash; driver killed
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a single vehicle fatality accident that occurred on Tuesday, March 9th, along FM 916 in Johnson County.
Just before 9:00pm on Tuesday evening, multiple emergency responders were called to the 4300 block of East FM 916 in the Rio Vista area after a vehicle was reportedly involved in a collision.
DPS Troopers arrived on scene to find the driver was out of the vehicle. Paramedics pronounced him deceased on the scene. He has been identified as a 54-year-old man from Cleburne.
A preliminary investigation of the scene reveals the man was traveling west on FM 916 when he drifted off the roadway and hit a culvert. The impact caused the vehicle to go airborne and hit a tree. Officials say the driver was able to crawl out of the vehicle, but his injuries were too severe.
The investigation is ongoing.
