Woman shot, killed by armed street racer in Dallas

The Dallas Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a woman who reportedly confronted street racers at a southwest Dallas intersection.

At around 10:40pm, Dallas police were called to the intersection of Duncanville Road and W. Ledbetter Drive after street racers took over the intersection. Videos on social media show multiple vehicles peeling out and doing donuts in the middle of the street.

A woman walking along the sidewalk reportedly engaged with the group. One of the street racers pulled out a gun and fired shots. The woman was hit.

Dallas Fire Rescue responded to the scene, but the woman was already deceased. She has been identified as a 54-year-old woman.

Street racing and “take overs” are becoming a common occurrence in Dallas. Large groups of people and vehicles shut down intersections and perform stunts, maneuvers, and other dangerous activity. Police have kickstarted an initiative meant to crack down on these activities.
