Child killed in dog attack at Fort Worth home

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating after a young child was killed in a dog attack this evening.

At around 5:07pm tonight, multiple emergency responders were called to a house in the 1400 block of Oak Grove Road after a family dog was reportedly attacking a young child in the backyard of the residence. Police say the child was a girl under the age of 5.

The child was transported from the scene in critical condition, and later pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

The department’s Crime Against Children Unit is currently investigating the incident. Animal control has taken possession of the dog.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and all first responders that responded to this call,” said Fort Worth PD Chief Neil Noakes.
