I-20 reopened west of Fort Worth after fatal fiery crash involving semis
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal wreck that occurred Saturday evening along eastbound Interstate 20 near FM 4 in the Santo area.
A crash earlier in the day had traffic congested along the eastbound lanes. One 18-wheeler had slowed due to the traffic when the driver of another 18-wheeler failed to control her speed and collided into the back of the first semi truck. This caused the second 18-wheeler to crash into the median and catch fire.
Unfortunately the driver of the 18-wheeler was killed in the crash. She has been identified as a 59-year-old woman from Duncanville. The driver and passenger of the first 18-wheeler were transported to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 were closed after the crash (around 7:00pm) and remained closed for over 12 hours as crews cleared up the scene. Lanes were eventually reopened around 8:30am this morning.
