UPDATE: Driver of 18-wheeler dies after crashing into bridge in Plano

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatality accident that occurred around 5:00pm this evening along the 121 service road at Ohio Drive.
At 5:16pm, Plano Fire Rescue, Police Department, and DPS Troopers were called to the scene after an 18-wheeler collided with the Ohio Drive overpass. When firefighters arrived, they found the driver heavily trapped inside of a nearly demolished 18-wheeler cab.
An extended extrication was required to free the driver. PHI Med 10 helicopter was called to the scene and landed on Ohio Drive.
The flight crew airlifted him to nearby Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, but he was pronounced deceased.
A preliminary investigation of the scene reveals the 18-wheeler was traveling northbound on Sam Rayburn Tollway when, for an as of yet undetermined reason, the driver lost control, went down an embankment, across the service road and into the bridge wall.
The investigation is ongoing.
