Man arrested for killing woman at home in Parker County

The Parker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred Tuesday evening at a home in the 100 block of Cedar Creek Drive in the Azle area.

At around 7:00pm, dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call from a resident inside the home who heard several gunshots and a woman screaming. He came out of his room to find the victim, a 64-year-old woman, laying in the kitchen with a gunshot wound.

The suspect then pointed the rifle at the resident, but the resident quickly fled and called police.

Parker County’s SWAT team and DPS Troopers were called to assist with taking the suspect into custody. A perimeter was established as officers canvassed the area for the suspect.

Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s Office later notified Parker County Sheriff’s Office that they had the suspect in custody for public intoxication.

Sheriffs deputies are investigating the motive of the killing. The suspect and the victim shared the same last name, but their relation was not released.
