Burglar shoots and injures Dallas police officer
The Dallas Police Department is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred overnight at an apartment complex in Lake Highlands.
At around 1:05am this morning, Dallas police received a 9-1-1 call about a burglary in progress at an apartment complex. A caller reported someone was kicking the his door and attempting to get into the unit.
The first Dallas officer on scene located the alleged suspect and yelled at him. The suspect then fired multiple shots at the officer, striking him in his right hand. The suspect fled on foot, but officers were able to apprehend an individual matching his description.
The officer was transported by Dallas Fire Rescue to a local hospital. He is listed in stable condition.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
