Man was stalking, harassing woman before she was found dead in her crashed car, Fort Worth police say

The Fort Worth Police Department has released an arrest affidavit with additional details regarding the shooting and crash that occurred last week along Highway 183.

Last Tuesday night, emergency responders were called to the area of Highway 183 and Amon Carter for a major accident. When officers arrived, they located a woman fatally shot in the crashed vehicle along the highway median.

Homicide detectives made contact with her job at a night club where they learned she was being stalked and harassed by a frequent patron of the establishment, now identified as 54-year-old Stanley Szeliga.

The victim had found a tracking device on her personal vehicle, and notified her manager about it. She was frightened because he was known to be stalking and harassing her.

Detectives tracked Stanley to an apartment in the Irving area. They obtained a search warrant for his apartment after multiple attempts to meet him were unsuccessful. As officers attempted to gain their way into his apartment, he stabbed himself in the neck. He was treated for the stab wound and later transferred to Tarrant County jail on a Murder charge.
