Woman killed after hitting off duty officer’s vehicle in construction zone on I45
The Dallas Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred early this morning on southbound I45 near Simpson Stuart Road.
Just after 4:30am, a woman driving southbound on the highway attempted to pass another vehicle and changed lanes from center to left. When she changed lanes, she collided with a retired off-duty officer’s SUV that was blocking for construction traffic.
The woman sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Dallas Fire Rescue.
The off-duty officer was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
Authorities say the off-duty officer’s SUV was parked in the left lane with emergency lights on at the time of the crash.
