Intoxicated driver arrested for causing crash that seriously injured three people, including child
Just before 8:30pm Tuesday evening, the Arlington and Grand Prairie fire and police departments responded to a major accident on westbound Interstate 20 near State Highway 360.
Authorities say a 25-year-old man was driving erratically when he collided with a pickup, causing the truck to hit a guardrail and overturn.
A 26-year-old man, a 22-year-old female, and two children were inside the pickup truck. Firefighters extricated at least one trapped person and one was reportedly ejected. One of the children only sustained minor injuries, but the two adults and second child, a 2-year-old, sustained major injuries. The child’s injuries were life-threatening. Grand Prairie and Arlington EMS transported individuals to nearby MCA for medical treatment.
Officers conducted a series of field sobriety tests on the 25-year-old man who caused the crash. He was found to be intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was arrested on three counts of Intoxication Assault with Serious Bodily Injury. He is currently in the Arlington jail.
Lanes of I20 were closed for several hours while Arlington police investigated the scene.
