Siblings killed in fiery crash south of Granbury

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatality accident that occurred overnight Saturday along lanes of State Highway 144 south of Granbury.

At 12:30am, multiple emergency responders were dispatched to State Highway 144 near Mambrino Highway for a major accident. When first arriving units arrived, they located a SUV on fire.

DPS troopers say the vehicle was traveling southbound on 144 when the driver, a 24-year-old man, failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and crashed into a tree. The car then caught fire.

The driver and his sister, a 22-year-old passenger, were killed in the crash. They were from Glen Rose.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

No additional information has been released by officials.
