Driver killed in crash with 18-wheeler in Denton
The Denton Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred overnight on Interstate 35E.
At around 1:45am this morning, Denton PD and Fire/EMS crews responded to the scene on northbound I35E near North Texas Blvd after a pickup truck struck an 18-wheeler.
Police say the 18-wheeler had slowed to a stop due to traffic congestion in the area. The driver of a pickup truck rear-ended the 18-wheeler at high speeds, causing significant damage to the vehicle.
Paramedics pronounced the driver of the pickup truck deceased on the scene. He has been identified as a 42-year-old man from the Austin area.
Traffic Investigators responded to the scene, and they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this crash.
