Swimmer who drowned at Joe Pool Lake wasn’t wearing a life jacket, officials say

The Grand Prairie Fire Department has released an update regarding the drowning yesterday at Joe Pool Lake.

At around 5:30pm on Sunday evening, multiple emergency responders were dispatched to Lynn Creek Park at Joe Pool Lake for a reported drowning.

9-1-1 reports indicated a man was swimming near beach area when he went under and did not resurface.

Grand Prairie’s Dive Team responded to the area and located the man’s body a few hours later. The Dallas County Medical Examiner took possession of the body.

He was not wearing a life jacket.

“As the lake season approaches, GPFD strongly encourages the public to wear a life vest or an appropriate personal floating device while near the water.”
