Missing woman’s body found dumped in southwest Dallas

The Dallas Police Department is investigating a homicide after a missing woman’s body was found dumped near the intersection of S. Ledbetter Drive and W. Kiest.

Last Saturday, family reported to police that their 54-year-old relative was missing from her home on Charlotte Street in Duncanville. It was reported that she had left her house on Friday the 15th and did not come home.

On Monday, Dallas PD found the missing woman’s vehicle abandoned on Navy Avenue in west Dallas.

On Wednesday, Dallas PD was dispatched to the area of 3000 S. Ledbetter Road near W. Kiest for an investigation. When officers arrived, they located the body of an adult woman wrapped in a plastic tarp. She had been shot and killed. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office retrieved the body and made a positive identification on the missing woman.

Today, the Dallas PD announced they have arrested 56-year-old Clinton Smith and charged him with the woman’s murder. He remains in Dallas County Jail at this time.

The motive and circumstances surrounding this death are still being investigated. Officials have not released whether the suspect and the victim knew each other.
