Armed customer shoots, kills robber at Grand Prairie Dollar General

The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday night at the Dollar General, 1690 W. Polo Road.

At around 9:10pm, Grand Prairie police officers responded to a robbery call at the store and located the suspected robber inside the store with a gunshot wound. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital but he was pronounced deceased.

Police learned the suspect was in the middle of robbing the store and an employee when an armed patron pulled out a gun and shot the robber. The patron was a concealed handgun license holder.

“Fearing for his life, and the life of the employee, the customer intervened and shot the suspect,” police say.

The customer is cooperating with detectives. No charges are expected at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
