Teenager killed, three others hurt in crash near Wills Point High School

The Wills Point Police Department in Van Zandt County, approximately 50 miles east of Dallas, is investigating a tragic accident that claimed the life of one teenager and injured three others.
Tuesday evening around 7:00pm, multiple emergency responders were dispatched to the scene on Highway 80 near FM 2965 in front of the Wills Point High School. Upon arrival, officers located an 18-wheeler and a passenger car involved in a collision. Multiple people were injured in the crash.
The driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene by Christus EMS. Three other juveniles inside the vehicle were transported to a Tyler hospital for treatment of their injuries. Their conditions have not yet been released at this time.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was evaluated and did not require transport to a hospital.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing. Police have not stated a possible cause.
“We as the Wills Point Police Department want to pray for love and healing for all parties involved in this tragic situation,” said WPPD Chief Aaron Long.
