NEW: Two drivers killed in t-bone crash at Red Oak intersection

The Red Oak Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred earlier this afternoon along Highway 77 at Free Market Drive.

At 12:52pm, multiple 9-1-1 calls came into the dispatch center reporting a major accident at the given location. Officers arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and located two vehicles with major damage.

Investigators say a minivan was westbound on Free Market Drive when the driver failed to yield to a northbound passenger car. As the minivan made the left turn onto southbound Highway 77, the northbound passenger car t-boned the minivan, resulting in a serious collision.

The driver of the passenger car, a 17-year-old female, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the minivan, a 66-year-old, was transported to nearby Baylor Scott and White Waxahachie hospital, but pronounced deceased. A passenger in the minivan was transported to Children’s Hospital in Dallas with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
