Driver killed in crash along I-30 in Dallas

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatality accident that occurred overnight along eastbound Interstate 30 near Dolphin Road.
At 2:01am, Dallas Fire-Rescue and Dallas County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene of a four-vehicle accident on the highway. One vehicle was wrapped around the front of a box truck with major damage to the passenger side. The driver of this vehicle, a 29-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Dallas paramedics.
Immediately following the collision, the driver of the box truck ran away from the scene. Police believe he may have been picked up by someone else.
Two other vehicles were involved in the crash. One remained at the scene, but the fourth drove off. There were no other major injuries.
Lanes of eastbound I-30 were closed for 4+ hours while DSO investigated the scene. As they were working the scene, an intoxicated driver drove past the blockades. In an effort to stop the driver from crashing into the fatality accident scene, a DSO deputy used his squad car to stop the driver. He was taken to a local hospital but will be booked into the Dallas County Jail for intoxication.
