Four people injured, one fatally, in shootout at northwest Dallas house

The Dallas Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred overnight Sunday at a home on the northwest side of town.

At 3:01am, Dallas police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 3600 block of Cortez Drive for a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they located four victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

A 21-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other victims, a 17-year-old and 18-year-old, were transported to a local hospital and later released. The fourth victim, a 58-year-old man, was transported by Dallas paramedics in critical condition.

Officials say the incident began as a fight. The situation escalated into the alleyway behind the residence when the 58-year-old man pulled out a weapon and shot the three individuals. One of the injured victims then pulled out a gun and shot the shooter. It is unknown why they were fighting.

The 58-year-old has been charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault. He is currently listed in critical condition at a local hospital. The investigation is continuing, and additional charges may be filed as a result of the ongoing investigation.
