Dallas police shoot armed man after drug deal and chase near Lake Highlands

The Dallas Police Department is investigating a shooting involving one of their officers.

On Wednesday evening, Dallas police officers observed a drug deal at a gas station in the 13000 block of Jupiter Road. They attempted to make a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle when he took off, leading them on a pursuit. He was eventually able to evade officers.

A few hours later, around 11:30pm, officers located the suspect vehicle back at the same gas station. They went inside to arrest the suspect when a fight broke out. During the fight, the suspect pulled out a gun from his waistband and was subsequently shot by one of the officers.

Dallas Fire Rescue transported the suspect to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and Office of Police Oversight were notified and responded.

The incident remains under investigation.
