Woman facing Murder charge for lighting boyfriend on fire at Arlington gas station

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred back on July 18th.

At 9:09pm on July 18th, Arlington PD, FD, and EMS were dispatched to the EZ Mart / Shell gas station in the 1900 block of E. Mayfield Road for a man on fire. He suffered significant burns to his whole body. He was transported to a Collin County hospital where he died yesterday, August 2.

Detectives determined the man and his girlfriend arrived at the gas station and started arguing. During the argument, the girlfriend pumped gasoline into the back of the car where he was sitting and lit him on fire. After he exited the vehicle, she drove off. Bystanders rendered aid by using fire extinguishers to put out the fire.

The girlfriend, a 25-year-old, was arrested the next day on an Aggravated Assault charge. That charge has been upgraded to Murder since the man died.
