UPDATE: Richland Hills police shoot, kill armed suspect on foot
The Richland Hills Police Department is investigating an officer involved shooting that transpired earlier this afternoon in the area of Blvd 26 (Grapevine Highway) and Vance Road.
At 3:11pm, Richland Hills PD officers were dispatched to a shooting at a house in the 7000 block of Hardisty Street. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a male armed with a rifle running away from the scene. No one was injured at this scene, according to police.
Richland Hills PD and neighboring departments established a perimeter in the immediate area. Officers quickly located the suspect and engaged with him in the middle of Blvd 26.
The suspect pointed his semi-automatic rifle at the officers, forcing them to fire multiple shots at the suspect. The suspect was shot at least once.
Paramedics were called to the scene, but the suspect was already deceased.
Lanes of Blvd 26 have been closed throughout the evening while investigators work the scene.
