UPDATE: Retired Haltom City officer killed in house fire near Azle

At around 10:20am this morning, firefighters from the Parker County ESD 1 were called to the scene of a house fire in the 400 block of Hartley Way near Azle. When crews arrived, they located heavy fire showing from the house. One resident was unaccounted for. A 2nd alarm was called to the scene.

Firefighters started attacking the fire and searching the residence for the missing man. He was located a short time after in the garage of the home, where it is believed the fire started. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Haltom City Police Department announced the victim of this fire is retired Corporal Tony Miller.

“Corporal Miller joined the Haltom City Police Department in 1997 and retired after serving for 25 years. It is difficult to put into perspective the contributions this man made to our department and community during his long career. Tony started his career as a patrol officer and was later assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division as a detective. He promoted to the rank of Corporal and was assigned to numerous specialized units including Street Crimes which is an extension of CID, S.W.A.T., S.W.A.T. sniper, and instructed our department for many years as a firearms instructor.”
