Intoxicated driver causes fatal crash in Johnson County

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatality accident that occurred overnight along Interstate 35W in Johnson County.
At around 1:50am, a 75-year-old man driving an SUV at a high rate of speed rear-ended a pickup truck also traveling southbound on the highway. The impact caused the pickup truck to roll over and hit a bridge support pillar at the FM 2258 intersection.
Grandview firefighters, Johnson County paramedics, and multiple law enforcement officers all responded to the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, a 35-year-old man from Cleburne, was deceased at the scene. His passenger, a 28-year-old woman, was airlifted to JPS in stable condition.
The SUV driver was determined to be intoxicated. Troopers arrested him at the scene and have since booked him into the Johnson County jail. He has been charged with one count of Intoxication Manslaughter and one count of Intoxication Assault.
Lanes of southbound I35W were closed for hours this morning while DPS Troopers investigated the scene.
