Drunk driver runs red light, kills pedestrian at Arlington intersection

The Arlington Police Department has arrested a 22-year-old driver and charged him with Intoxication Manslaughter and Intoxication Assault after a crash on Sunday.
At 10:17pm on Sunday evening, Arlington Fire/EMS and Police responded to the intersection of E. Park Row Drive and Susan Drive for a major accident involving two pedestrians. Emergency responders arrived to find two women laying in the roadway. Paramedics transported both women to a local hospital where one was pronounced deceased. She has been identified as a 67-year-old female.
Investigators determined a driver ran a red light while traveling westbound on Park Row and struck the two women as they walked across the street in the crosswalk. The driver did not stop to render aid.
Police located a license plate at the scene. They ran the tag which came back to a residence on Cloverdale Street, not too far from the accident scene. Officers went to the residence and located a vehicle with heavy front-end damage. They made contact with a resident who was determined to be the driver at the time of the collision. He failed multiple tests for sobriety and was subsequently arrested.
Investigators believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
