Two people killed in crash on the Dallas North Tollway

At around 1:43pm on Thursday afternoon, Dallas Fire Rescue and DPS Troopers responded to the scene of a three vehicle crash on the southbound side of Dallas North Tollway just north of I35E.

Investigators say a vehicle was stopped in one of the southbound lanes due to heavy traffic. The driver of an SUV failed to control their speed and rear-ended the stopped vehicle. A third vehicle was hit in the chain reaction crash.

Two passengers inside the stopped vehicle were transported to Parkland Hospital by Dallas Fire Rescue, but later pronounced deceased. They have been identified as a 62-year-old man from Austin and his mother, an 86-year-old woman from Little Elm. The driver of the vehicle, who was the man’s wife, was not seriously hurt.

No one else suffered any serious injuries in the crash.

Lanes of the Dallas North Tollway were closed while TxDPS investigated the scene.
