Stray bullet hits boy watching fireworks, Arlington police say

The Arlington Police Department says a 12-year-old boy sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his neck while outside looking at fireworks.

At around 12:20am this morning, Arlington police and paramedics responded to the 200 block of Roberts Circle to investigate a shooting. They located the juvenile victim at the scene and transported him to a local hospital.

Family members tell police they all went outside to watch a nearby fireworks display when suddenly the boy was struck by a stray bullet. “At this point, it’s unclear where the bullet came from,” said Arlington PD.

He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
