NEW: Teenager killed in shooting at Fort Worth Whataburger

At 4:05pm this afternoon, Fort Worth police officers responded to a shooting at the Whataburger, 2401 W. Berry Street.
When officers arrived, they located two injured teenagers. MedStar EMS transported one 16-year-old male and one 17-year-old female to local trauma centers. The 16-year-old male was pronounced deceased. The female is reported to be in stable condition.
Homicide detectives are currently reviewing evidence to identify suspect(s) who fled the scene. Officials say the suspect(s) are high-school aged and knew both victims.
FWPD Chief Noakes says the situation started as a verbal argument and escalated to a physical fight and shooting.
Fort Worth ISD released the following statement:
“After dismissal, at around 4:00pm today, a shooting took place at Whataburger near Paschal High School. Two Fort Worth ISD students were victims of the shooting; and tragically, a male student did not survive his injuries. Fort Worth ISD continues to collaborate with the Fort Worth Police Department in this ongoing investigation. On Monday, the Fort Worth ISD will have support staff available for Paschal students and staff at the campus.”
