Student brings toy BB gun to Braswell HS, leads to lockdown

At around 12:05pm today, Braswell High School went into a lockdown as Little Elm Police Department and other authorities investigated reports of an armed student.
The following was sent out to parents regarding the situation:
“Our campus was placed on lockdown shortly after 12:05 p.m. today at the direction of the Little Elm Police Department. We received notice that a student brought a “toy gun” to school. Upon learning this information, the Little Elm Police Department, as well as our School Resource Officer (SRO), were immediately notified, and a thorough investigation was launched. The “toy gun” was retrieved from the identified student, and that student will face severe consequences in accordance with our Student Code of Conduct.”
Officials say the BB gun never left the student’s backpack until it was removed by LEPD.
The lockdown lasted around 30 minutes.
“We want to reassure you that the safety of our students and staff are always of the utmost importance, and at no time was anyone in danger at school today. We met with the student involved individually, gathered information, and reaffirmed that these types of items are not welcome on campus.”
