Two killed in separate crashes on Interstate 30 in Grand Prairie

The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Sunday, June 18, 2023, in the 3500 block of E IH‐30.
At approximately 1:55 a.m., a passenger car traveling westbound on IH‐30 struck the rear end of a car‐hauler trailer that was also traveling westbound. The driver of the passenger car was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries occurred. Traffic investigators have not ruled out that excessive speed was a factor in the collision.
While officers and investigators were working the first accident scene, a second collision occurred.
At approximately 2:50 a.m., a pickup truck was traveling westbound on IH‐30 when the driver failed to control his vehicle’s speed, striking slow‐moving traffic ahead, and causing a chain reaction crash. A passenger of one of the struck vehicles was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased. Two other occupants were also transported to a local hospital with non‐life‐threatening injuries.
Both crashes are under investigation.
